Hebrew-English English-Hebrew dictionary authored by Abigail Lindo - one of the first Hebrew/English bilingual dictionaries ever written, the first English-Hebrew dictionary written by a Jew, and the first Hebrew dictionary authored by a woman (and, in fact, one of the first dictionaries in the world authored by a woman). Lindo is presented as the "third daughter of David Abarbanel Lindo" and the book is dedicated to Sir Moshe Montefiore.
The first page of the book contains a lithograph of the Lindo's father, David Abarbanel Lindo.
Abigail Lindo (1803-1848) was one of David Abarbanel Lindo's 18 children, and related to Moshe Montefiore, to whom she dedicated her book.
359 pages, 21 cm. Magnificent binding with the words "Presented by the Father of the Deceased Authoress" in gilt imprint.
