Firsov, Nikolai Nikolaevich (1864-1934), historian of the liberal-Narodnik. Graduated from Kazan University (1888). Since 1891—private associate Professor, since 1903-Professor of the Kazan University at the Department of Russian history. In 1897 he defended his master's thesis "Russian commercial and industrial companies in the first half of the XVIII century", in 1903-doctoral "Government and society in their attitude to foreign trade of Russia in the reign of Empress Catherine II". In 1914-1916 he was suspended from teaching for political reasons. In Soviet times headed the work on the study of history and Ethnography of non-Russian peoples of the Volga region, was Chairman of the Scientific society of tetravalent in Kazan (1923-1929), was, engaged in the study of Russian economic history and the history of the peasant movements of XVII—XIX centuries, 1890-1920, he wrote the popular scientific cycle of biographical essays about Russian historical figures "Historical features and sketches" (in 3 volumes), published in Kazan, and in 1921-1930 he was about Peter the great, S. Razin, E. Pugachev, G. Derzhavin, the Decembrists, etc.
