Volume 1. From ancient times to 1917.

In this book the glorious past of our capital is traced on the extensive illustrated material. The historical path of Moscow from the modest town of a small reign to the political, economic and cultural center of the Russian state, its active role in the development of progressive thought, in the organization of advanced revolutionary forces and, finally, in the preparation of the greatest revolutionary coup that took place in October 1917 - all this is visibly presented to the reader in historical monuments, in original documents and photographs, in works of painting and graphics.

Volume 2. From 1917 to the present day.

The second volume of this edition is devoted to the history of Moscow from 1917 to the present day. Numerous photographs, as well as reproductions of paintings by major masters of Soviet painting tell about the heroic days of the October revolution, the civil and great Patriotic wars, the selfless work of Muscovites during the years of peaceful construction. Hundreds of color illustrations and text clearly present a majestic panorama of modern Moscow. Throughout the book shows the development of industry and construction, science, culture, art, sports.
