Ibur Shonim. Second Edition. Venice 1579.
Second, amended edition of an important work on the Hebrew calendar and other customs throughout the year, by R. Yissachar Ibn Sushan.
The author writes in his introduction that this Venice edition is to be preferred, as the first edition (Constantinople 1564), has many inaccuracies.
R. Yissachar Ibn Sushan was descended from a distinguished Moroccan Family who lived in Eretz Yisroel. He did extensive research among the Mostarabian Community (the ancient Jewish Community permanently resident in Eretz Yisroel), publishing his findings in this sefer. Following the Spanish Expulsion in 1492, and the resulting influx of Jews from the Iberian Peninsula who brought with them ubiquitous Minhag Sefard, these Minhagim were largely forgotten.
Vinograd Venice 640. Di Gora press. 136 pages. 19.5 cm. Overall fine condition. Some repairs and professional restorations to the first few pages, including the title page (slightly effecting text). Some wear throughout. Modern half-leather binding.
Opening bid $400
