Meir Iyov. Venice 1562
Comprehensive commentary to the book of Iyov (Job), including a fully vowelized text of the entire Sefer Iyov, by R. Meir Arama.
R. Meir Arama (1460-1545), was a native of Saragossa. With the expulsion of the Jews from Spain in 1492, he fled to Naples and eventually settled in Salonika, where he served as Rav to the exiled Aragonian community. He was the son of R. Yitzchok Arama the “Ba’al Ha’Akeidah.”
This sefer is of particular interest to bibliographers as it was printed in two different cities with the interruption of a few years. The first part was printed in Riva di Trento in 1562, however the printing was interrupted and was eventually continued in Venice in 1567, with a new title page. There are various distinctive differences in the typeface and typography of the two parts.
Vinograd Venice 546. Zurzi di Kabali press. 124 pages. 19.5 cm. Fine condition. Some light staining. Slight damage to the title page and the last 3 pages very slightly affecting text. Modern binding.
Opening bid $300
