R. Baruch Markus. Letter to R. Avrohom Yitzchok HaKohen Kook. Haifa 1921. Rare
Interesting autograph latter sent by R. Baruch Marcus, Chief Rabbi of Haifa, to R. Avrohom Yitzchok HaKohen Kook. Regarding a plaintiff who wished to settle a disagreement he had with R. Boruch Marcus in a secular court. He implores R. Kook to make every effort to encourage this individual to agree to settle in Bais Din, particularly as to avoid a great Chillul HaShem.
R. Baruch Marcus (1870-1961), was born near Kovno and learned under both the Alter of Kelm and the Alter of Slabodka. After his marriage he emigrated to Eretz Yisroel, where he headed the Beis HaMussar in Yerusholayim. He also founded Yeshivas Ohr Chodosh together with R. Shmuel Hillel Shenker. In 1906, he was appointed as Chief Rabbi of Haifa where he served until his passing, being one of the most distinguished Rabbonim and Ba’alei Mussar in Eretz Yisroel.
With notations on the letter, possibly written by R. Kook.
21 by 24 cm. Excellent condition.
