Un Bon français - Anti-Semitic Pocket Booklet. Paris, 1930s

Un Bon français - Good French. Published by G. Mazeyrie. Pocket booklet with anti-Semitic cartoons telling the story of a wealthy Jewish crooner who comes to France. Paris 1930s.

The booklet tells the story of Jacobensky - a derogatory name for the 'Jacob' Jew who comes to France from the East 'like many others before him'. At first he comes to the flea market to try his luck in trading, and when he sees that he is unsuccessful, he decides to dress up as a wealthy and influential man. He is slowly gaining power, getting involved in France's political affairs, becoming a prominent speaker and taking over the country from the inside. In the cartoon before the end of the booklet, the illustrator likens France to white cheese that the Jews in the form of dogs and cats eat from the inside. Finally, of course, the Jew's deception is revealed and he is kicked out like the rest of his brother with a kick and cleaned out with a broom.

Publications of this kind were circulated in France in the 1930s when anti-Semitism peaked on the eve of the outbreak of World War II. A similar item of this kind distributed in France during those years see the  DYNASTY No. 2 auction Item No. 44.
