A segulah book “an outpouring of favor and blessing of salvation” Brit Avram – Chassidut, first edition, Brody, 1875
The book Brit Avram “which is a dear and pleasant commentary on the Five Books of the Torah and on the haphtaroth and on the five megillot” by Rabbi Yoseph Moshe of Zborow and Zalozitz. First edition, Brody 1875. The book has approbations from the foremost chassidic leaders of the period – the Ohev Yisrael of Apta and Rabbi Zvi Hirsch of Zidichov, Rabbi Ephraim Zalman Margaliot and Rabbi Avraham Yaakov of Sadigora and others. In the approbation of Rabbi David Moshe of Chortkov he notes in his own handwriting that anyone who pays money for the book “the merit of the author will provide him with an outpouring of favor and blessing of salvation to be blessed by the threefold blessing from the Torah.” At the end of the book are a few homilies by the author. [4], 152 leaves, 153 pages. [4]. Stains and slight tears on the last leaves, good general condition. Rabbi Moshe son of Rabbi Elkana was born circa 1735 (the name Yoseph was added to him by Rabbi Avraham Chaim of Zlotchov when he was sick two years before he died). He was a sickly man and conducted himself in abstinence and sanctity. He was a talented speaker and used to enthuse his listeners. He served as a maggid in Zborow and later in Zalozitz until his death. He recorded his homilies on the Torah and the festivals in this book. In addition, he also wrote a commentary on the Pesach Haggadah named Be’er Mayim. His books were published after his death through the special efforts of Rabbi Avraham Chaim of Zlotchov. Rabbi Yoseph Moshe died in Zalozitz at the age of 80, on 23rd Elul 1815.
