INDIAN DAGGER WITH DAMASCUS BLADE AND GOLD INLAY

A 19th century South Indian dagger with thick Damascus steel double edged curved pointy blade with chiseled and gold koftgari decorated forte with a characteristic floral motif. Large steel pommel entirely decorated with rich gold inlay (koftgari). The pommels is in the shape of a bird. Steel quillons turned down with two small dome-alike terminals decorated with gold inlay. Scabbard is of wood covered in red velvet. The chape is of silver. Ca. 19th century.

Condition: Very good with gold inlay intact, scabbard is a replacement
