NEWMAN ALFRED: (1900-1970) American Composer of Film Music, Academy Award winner. D.S., Alfred Newman, four pages, 4to, n.p., 17th November 1932. The partially printed document, completed in typescript, is addressed to the Music Rights Department of Electrical Research Products Inc. in New York and gives notice of the intention for forty compositions to be used by United Artists in their production of The Kid from Spain. The document lists each of the compositions and their composers, including several by Newman and others including Bert Kalmar and Harry Ruby. Signed by Newman to the first page in his capacity as Musical Director. Some very light, extremely minor age wear, VG £200-300 The Kid from Spain (1932) was an American comedy starring Eddie Cantor which centred around bullfighting. The musical scenes are particularly noteworthy and included performances by the Goldwyn Girls (featuring a young Betty Grable) choreographed by Busby Berkeley.
