Fascinating receipt, hand written and signed by the Holy 'Imrei Emes' of Gur, for 'Kollelus' money he received from the famous Beit Chassidim in Lodz.

Fascinating and rare receipt personally hand written by the Holy 'Imrei Emes' of Gur. confirming the receipt of 'Kollelus' money he received from the Beit Chassidim in Lodz.

'כסף הכוללות מביהח"ס בעיר לאדז רחוב ויסחאדני נומ' 50 סכום 65 זהו' [זהובים] מפרשת בלק תרפ"ו'. 

As is known and accepted among Chassidim to contribute membership money for their righteous Rabbis each month.

The date on this receipt is very interesting, dated according to the Torah Parsha of the week and not according to the months. 

This original official receipt of 'Kollelus' money, was filled in personally by the holy hand of the 'Imrei Emes', and signed his name in full. 

Beit Chassidim on the '50 Vesco Danya Street' in Lodz appearing on the receipt, was the most prominent "Shtibel" of the Gur Chassidim in all of Poland. Praying there were from the greatest Chassidim, among grandchildren of the Holy Imrei Emes, also the famous Mashgiach Rabbi God'l Eisner who related a lot about this lofty "shtibel". Among the Chassidim this "Shtibel" was 'Der Fiftzige' (Fifty'th) for the number of the address, hinting as well about the 'Fifty Holy Gates' (חמישים שערי קדושה) that hovered upon this 'Shtibel'.

'Kollelus' money is a lofty and sublime concept among Chassidim in all Chassidic courtyards as a connection between the Chassid and his Rabbi. In most places this is called 'Kesef Ma'amadot' (membership money), and in Poland it was called 'Kollelus'.

By the Holy Rabbi Mordechei of Chernobyl it was accepted that he himself determined the 'Ma'amadot' amount which a Chassid should give for his soul's redemption, there are many wonderful stories about this.

Among the Polish courtyards, it was a custom to give a specific amount, at times a small amount, but mainly the giving recurrently for this lofty sake of having a strong connection with the Tzadik. As it is known in Chassidic sefarim that to do a favor with the righteous, he is then so called committed in return to do good for the soul of the giver.

In the Ruzhin courtyard, it was a custom to give once a year a certain amount of 'Ma'amadot', in the Gur courtyard the money was given each month.
