and cover by the artist Egor Narbut. The illustrations are made in the technique of
zincography. In the latest semi-leather binding of the time. The illustrated publishing
cover is preserved. Neat restoration of the edges of the cover. The last book decorated
by E. Narbut in the period of his creativity in St. Petersburg.
Narbut Egor (Georgy) Ivanovich (1886-1920) - artist, draughtsman and Illustrator,
organizer of the higher graphic education in Ukraine. Disciple of M. V. Dobuzhinsky,
German masters in Munich, I. Y. Bilibin. In 1913 he became a member of the ‘World
of art’. The artist’s works are distinguished by an impeccable sense of style and deliberately
dry ‘graphics’. He had made a lot of illustrations for children’s books of ed.
Knebel, covers, title pages and book decorations for magazines ‘Apollon’, «Russian
Icon», publishing house ‘Shipovnik’ (Rosehip), etc.
