Likkutim M'Rav Hai Gaon Printed by Order of Maggid of Kozhnitz. First Edition. Signed in the Hand of his Grandson, Rabbi Elimelech of Grodzhinsk
Likkutim M'Rav Hai Gaon. First edition. Warsaw, 1798. Anthology of kabbalistic compositions printed from manuscripts which were hidden in the maggid of Kohznitz's archive. Edited by his disciple and personal scribe, Rabbi Gavriel of Warsaw.
The Admo"r Rabbi Elimelech Shapira of Grodzhinsk's signature appears on the title page. He was one of the great Admo"r's of his generation. The Rebbe's personal stamp also appears on several leaves.
A lengthy approbation by the maggid of Kozhnitz appears on the back of the title page. This book is the first time a book was printed with the maggid of Kozhnitz's name. In his approbation, he writes about the manuscript in his possession, and that he instructed his disciple to print it. He indicates that Rabbi Levi Yitzchak MiBerdichev also agreed to this:  "וברשיון דעת מחו' הגאון פאר הדור, ידיד ה' וידידי, איש אלוקים מו"ה לוי יצחק נ"י אב"ד דק"ק בארדיטשוב". In later editions, this book was called: Likkutei Rav Hai Gaon and also Ner L'Yisrael.
Rabbi Elimelech of Grodzhinskֲ [1824-1892] was a son of Rabbi Chaim Meir Yechiel Shapira - "the Saraf of Molagnitza" and grandson of the maggid of Kozhnitz. He was among the greatest tzaddikim of his generation and Admo"r to thousands of Chassidim. He was a disciple of: the Saba Kadisha of Shidlovetza, and he was also influenced by Rabbi Yisrael of Ruzhin. He served as an Admo"r in Grodzhinsk starting in 1848, and became one of the leaders of his generation. The following important books were printed from his doctrine: Imrei Elimelech on the Torah, and Divrei Elimelech on Torah and festivals. These works are saturated with love of the Jewish people and written in the spirit of his grandfather, the maggid of Kozhnitz. His son was Rabbi Kalonymus Kalmish of Piaczetzna, may his blood be avenged. (Encyclopedia L'Chassidut pp. 244-245).
