Profound Novellae on the Massechtos in Seder Nezikin, by the Great Rav Shmuel Shettin HaKohen Katz, head of the Great Kloiz (Beis Midrash) of Frankfurt, and Grandfather of the Chasam Sofer.
Frankfurt 5471 [1711] - First Print. [1], 159 pages. In good condition.
On title page is written: "Belongs to the Torahdik, the Honorable Rav, Rav Nosson...Shimon Adler Katz, Zichrono L'chayey Haolam Haba (re: of blessed memory). The word "Nosson" is handwritten by Rav Nosson Adler himself, with the preceding word: "the holy" crossed out. The continuation which is written there may also be in his own handwriting. [Included is the approval of Rav Yitzchak Yeshaya Wiess].
The "great eagle" Rav Nosson Adler Katz (5502-5560) Known as a miracle worker, the teacher and Rav Muvhak of the Chasam Sofer. The Chasam Sofer said about him in his eulogy that "he reached the level of complete chassidus and prishus (abstention)...and all the gateways of the Torah are open before him", and testified that when a fire broke out in Frankfurt, the fire did not approach his home.
