Pure handwriting of "Reb Chaim Vital" zy"a. A page from his holy sefer Etz Hada'as Tov. Rare existence.
Reb Chaim Vital's name is renowned and famous in all of Klal Yisroel, as publisher of the writings of the Arizal.
The sefer Etz Hada'as Tov is an original work of Harav Chaim Vital, upon which he toiled for numerous years, polishing and perfecting it all his life. The sefer includes explanations and remazim along the four aspects of Pardes (pshat, remez, drash and sod) on the pesukim of the Torah and alternatively of midrashim and drashos.
The sefer remained in his handwriting and was unpublicized for hundreds of years, but those who merited to see it, extensively praised its importance. For example, the Chida writes: I saw several writings filled with wisdom in the handwriting of Harav Chaim Vital and his sefer Etz Hada'as Tov, and I merited to read it" (sefer Shemot Hagedolim, entry of Harav Chaim Vital and entry of Etz Hada'as Tov).
The great Kabbalists, attendees of the Beis Midrash of his son, Rabbi Shmuel Vital of Damessek, used to learn in this sefer on Shabbos, as testified by the great Kabbalistic genius Harav Yaakov Tzemach in the introduction of his sefer Kol Baramah: And here in Damessek I saw my friends learning the books of Harav Chaim Vital and the Zohar, in the house of the great scholar, Harav Shmuel Vital, the son of Harav Chaim z"l. In his house they would learn it every Shabbos afternoon, and every Thursday night, and he possesses two great books of fine writing, the first named Etz Hachaim, and the second one named Etz Hada'as Tov.
The handwritten version of the manuscript was held by the Rashash family and later by the family of the Chida. Part of it was included in the sefarim of the Imrei Emmes of Ger who held highly of this sefer, and it was printed in parts. A full detail of the sefer and a delineation of its sections can be found in the introduction of the sefer Etz Hada'as Tov that was printed from his handwriting by R' N. Lev, in Yerushalayim, 5768/2008.
Here we have one page from the third chapter of the sefer, written entirely in the pure handwriting of Harav Chaim Vital. The content of this page was printed in the sefer Etz Hada'as Tov, Yerushalayim, 5768/2008, page 129 and on.
