Sha'ar Gan Eden, Korets, 1803 (first printing) by the Kabbalist Rabbi Yaakov Kopel Lifshitz.
Elucidates obtuse passages in the Zohar and in the writings of the Ariza"l. The author notes that this book is the gateway to his great commentary on the Zohar (unpublished).
On the title page the publishers wrote that the book was presented to the holy Besht, for him to read the words of the author, and after reading some of the book, “He hugged and kissed them…nodded his head and said, ‘Happy is the people, that this is so’ (Psalms 144:15)” The book earned many approbations and was very well received among learners of Kabbala and Chassidut.
Rabbi Yaakov Kopel Lifshitz (? – 1740) was a Torah giant and Kabbalist in Mezeritch. He attended the yeshiva of the Gaon Rabbi Avraham Broda and was renowned for his important compositions and his Kol Yaakov siddur, which included the kavanot of the Ariza"l on prayer.
