(HOLOCAUST).
Albert Bereczky. Hungarian Protestantism and the Persecution of Jews.

Text in English.
pp. 47, (1). Upper cover lacking. 8vo.
Budapest: Sylvester, circa 1948
Bishop Albert Bereczky (1893-1966) of the Hungarian Reformed Church was an outspoken leader who sought to find a commodious arrangement for the co-existence of the Church alongside the post-war Communist regime. During the Holocaust, Bereczky at first assisted baptized Jews escape arrest, and eventually aided all Jews in avoiding persecution by procuring falsified ID’s. Issued by Sylvester, the publishing house established by Bereczky along with Zoltan Tildy, this treatise speaks of penance owed by Hungary - its government and its churches - for the persecution of the Jews of Hungary.
