Long interesting letter from the Gaon Rabbi Moshe Ginz Shlesinger, to Dr. Rabbi Meir Lehman, in which he bases the lineage and history of his family, Torah innovations and request. Abrani (Abraham) 1882.
Letter from the Gaon Rabbi Moshe Ginz Shlesinger to Rabbi Dr. Meir Lehman, when he was 22, in honor of his wedding, with details of his family lineage and its sources. Abrani, 1882.
[10] pages, 14x23 cm. Hand written and signed by Rabbi Moshe Ginz Shlesinger. Beautiful and impressive hand writing, in a skilled Loshon Kodesh language. This letter has not yet been published.
Contents of letter: Rabbi Moshe Ginz Shlesinger writes words of thanks and praise to Rabbi Dr. Meir Lehman for sending him the journal 'Israelit' at a decreased price, and wishes him for the new year and upon the engagement of his daughter. Rabbi Moshe relates on what he learned in Pressburg Yeshiva during four years and Horaeh he ordained from his father and uncle, and from the Rosh Yeshiva of Pressburg the Gaon Rabbi Simcha Bunem Sofer. Among his words he mentions his family lineage. He adds to relate about his engagement to Rachel daughter of the wealthy R' Arye Leibish Wolberg from Kerestir community and of his plans to devote in his Torah learning in his father-in-law's home. As a youth he had no means and he requests from Rabbi Dr. Lehamn to please send him his sefarim at a discounted price, so that he can send them to his bride as a gift. Finishing his words he writes innovations on Tractate Zevachim "למען לא יהי' מכתבי אריכות דברים בעלמא בלא דברי תורה".
Rabbi Moshe Ginz Shlesinger, born in 1861 to his father R' Eliezer Simcha, who was grandson of the brother of Rabbi Akiva Eiger. Rabbi Moshe was a disciple of the 'Shevet Sofer' of Pressburg and from the year 1894 served as Rav in Bodrogkeresztúr for 31 years until his passing on the 6th day of Adar 1925. He lead the Yeshiva in his city, and was renowned as a great and famous gaon. His sefer 'Chut Hamshulash" was published after his passing (Tarnow 1930).
