A GILT RESIN SEATED BUDDHA
South-East Asia, 20th century
The deity sitting in dhyanasana on a double lotus flower base, his hands resting on the legs with the palms open and facing upwards in dhyanamudra, the dhoti arranged to leave the upper chest area uncovered, the face with a meditative expression surmounted by an usnisa with a spherical finial, the gilding on the body partially abraded to show the tonal variegations of the resin.
