Ofri Marom, View 2013

Oil on canvas

35/35 cm

Signed back

Ofri Marom, 1966, was born in Kibbutz Hatzor. Merom began her art studies from 1992 to 1994 as part of the Avni Institute of Art and Design in Tel Aviv. Later she continued her studies in the studio of the artist Zibi Geva. She currently lives in Kfar Saba and creates a modest studio in a shelter in the city.

Merom's works are arranged in series in which she explores her environment in depth. Merom's paintings do not attempt to tell a story but to describe and perceive a situation. The painting is applied in layers over layers of industrial oil paint, in a way that contrasts with the sharp opacity of the colors and the depth and dynamism of the painting. The layers she creates, encourage the viewer to get sucked into the depths of the painting and explore its hidden details.

Another area of activity that Marom is involved in is the views on the side of the road she captures as they pass quickly through the vehicle window. Roadside views are a different direction for examining the urban landscape, where the road and vehicles are a key component. The car window causes the green landscapes of the roadside to become blurry and smudged until their details fade and fade into the paint stains.

Her works are in respected Israeli collections. It was also sold at various auctions.
