An amulet for protection 'and the destroyer will not come to your homes.' Baghdad [?], 1905

Large printed amulet for protection. Baghdad or India, [1905].

A Star of David shaped in the centered a letter combinations, the names of the angels and the rivers of heaven, around the house keeping verses: 'And the destroyer will not come to your homes.' Below is the name of the printer, "Baruch Shabtai Brennan," and the date, "Adar,1905".
The origin of the amulet is apparently in the book Raziel the Angel, where a similar amulet appears. Star of David shaped amulets with a square or round frame commonly used for guarding, with the Star of David characterizing the preserved object and the frame surrounding it on each side characterizes the protection.

Size: 24x20 cm. Given in a wooden frame: 32x27 cm. Very good condition.
