An album in a pocket format containing 32 photographs of Jews during their stay in the Fernwald DP camp, 1946-1950.
Family photos and friends in the camp. A large part of the photos are dated in handwritten back. Some were taken 'the day before our cost to israel'. Among the families appearing: Stoch, Donsky, Hirsch.
The Führenwald camp - one of the largest DP camps erected after World War II in Europe, and the last one who closed (in 1957). The camp was located in the town of Wolfratshausen in Bavaria, Germany. In January 1946, its population reached 5,600. Many couples got married there. The birth rate in 1946 was 70-80 births per thousand, roughly twice that of developing countries. In the camp, the people lived a productive cultural life, a school was established for the youth, the camp held musical and theatrical performances, and an internal newspaper called 'Bamidbar' was published. also, the "She'erit Ha-Pleita" yeshiva camp was established in the camp.
