Letter by the Gaon the Hassid of Tarnopol Rabbi David Menachem Manisch Babad Author of Chavatzelet HaSharon
Letter by the well-known Gaon of Tarnopol, the Gaon Rabbi David Menachem Manisch Babad, author of the responsa book Chavatzelet HaSharon and one of the leading Poskim of Galicia.
On the margins of the letter, a handwritten letter was added by Rabbi Yhoshua Heschil Babad who was the son-in-law and nephew of the author of Chavatzelet HaSharon and replaced him as Av Beit Din of Tarnopol after his death in 1938. This letter was written in 1937, while his father-in-law was still alive, yet sick. Presumably, his son-in-law served already then as a young rabbi in the town.
The letter was sent to their friend Rabbi Peretz in Antwerp to whom a responsum in the 'Chavatzelet HaSharon' responsa Siman 3 was sent. In the letter, the two send their greetings for his daughter's wedding, the warm greetings indicating the deep friendship between them.
Rabbi David Menachem Manisch Babad (1865-1938) was the son of Rabbi Yehoshua Heschil Av Beit Din of Padvaltshick, the son of Rabbi Chaim Babad Av Beit Din of Mikolinitz the brother of the Minchat Chinuch and the grandson of Rabbi Yehoshua Heschil Av Beit Din of Tarnopol.
