תקציר
A memorial book for the inmates of the Klooga concentration camp, a sub-camp of Vaivara in northern Estonia, which was established in summer 1943. Ca. 2,500 Jewish prisoners worked there, under very harsh conditions, at cement and brick works, sawmills, and a factory which produced wooden clogs. Most of the Jews had been deported from the Vilna ghetto, and some from the Kovno ghetto. On 19 September 1944, with the advance of the Soviet army, the Nazi guards shot all the inmates and attempted to burn the bodies on wooden pyres. Contains eyewitness testimonies by some of the 85 prisoners who managed to escape this massacre. Pp. 65-126 contain a list of names of 2,186 Jewish inmates, including their year and place of birth.
