Album with 26 photographs of sites in the Holy Land, mostly in Jerusalem, including streets in the Old City of Jerusalem, the Wailing Wall, the Vester Store next to Jaffa Gate, and the Dome of the Rock; Bethlehem, Bethany, and the Jordan Hotel in Modern Jericho. Published by American Colony, Vester, Jerusalem. Circa 1900. The photos are titled in the plate, and some of them are signed: American Colony, Jerusalem. They are bound in olive wood binding with a leather spine - on its front, a carved Jerusalem cross. Bears the Exlibris of James D. Phelan, the mayor of San Francisco and a US senator in the early 20th century.
Dimensions of the photos: approximately 21.5X27.5 cm. Photos are mounted on one side of the thick album leaves. Good average condition, tears to the edges, stains, gluing signs, creases, wear. Album dimensions are approximately 24X31 cm. Good-fair condition, chips to the wood (one larger at the edge of the album), cracks, scratches, wear.
