Sefer HaTashbetz. Responsa by Rabbi Shimon son of Tzemach, from a manuscript which was hidden with his descendants for three hundred and twenty years. Amsterdam, 1738-9. First edition. Four parts in one volume. Original magnificent leather binding.

There are different variants of the book's title pages. It usually comes with 4-7 title pages, this copy has Eight title pages!

The copy before us also has three title pages of the fourth part which was divided into three columns. It contains Eight title pages, as follows: A title page  for the first part with illustrations of lions, fallowed by a title page for the first part with the wide border with the pattern. Title page of the second part with illustrations of lions. Title page of the third part with illustrations of lions, followed by a title page with the wide border with the pattern. Part four - the title page of Chut HaMeshulash, the first column with illustrations of lions, the title page for the second column with the wide border with the pattern, and a title page for the third column with the wide border with the pattern.

The author Rabbi Shimon son of Tzemach Duran - Tashbetz, was one of the greatest later Rishonim. Born in Spain in 1361, and emigrated to Algeria after the decrees of 1391, where he passed away in 1444.
