Wonderful Wedding Congratulations from the Chazon Ish, with Blessings
for Healthy Children and Sustenance. Bnei Brak 1945. Handwritten and Signed.
The Chazon Ish showers blessings on the bridegroom, in beautiful, flowery language.
He blesses the new couple with the things that depend on merit and which depend on fate, the latter hinting to the famous quote in Talmud Bavli (Moed Katan 28;1) - Rava said:
Length of life, children, and sustenance do not depend on one's merit, but rather they depend upon fate.
The Chazon Ish had no children. He was not blessed with progeny, but that did not affect his happiness for others. Like a merciful father, he showered blessings on every couple preparing to marry and gave blessings to every childless couple, and to the depressed and ill, as if they were all his beloved offspring.
