Very interesting Letter by Rabbi Yechiel Michel Shlesinger, founder of Kol Torah Yeshiva. Frankfurt, 1938
Handwritten and signed letter to the rabbi of Jerusalem on the question of Esrogim from Eretz Yisroel that year, which was a shmitta year. Rabbi Shlesinger also asks the rabbi of Jerusalem to pray for him, and especially
for the successful Torah education of his son, particularly during the current troubled times…
The letter also refers to the problem of the proposed legal requirement to stun animals before they are slaughtered, and mentions that that decree has not yet reached Frankfurt.
Rabbi Yechiel Michel Shlesinger (1898-1949) was a dayan in Frankfurt. He moved to Jerusalem in 1939, where he founded Kol Torah yeshiva with Rabbi Boruch Kunstadt after the Holocaust. The Chazon Ish called Rabbi Yechiel “a second Chofetz Chaim.”
Good condition. A few words blotted out, apparently out of respect for those mentioned. 29x20 cm.
