Rabbi Yaakov Yisrael Emden (1697-1776) was the eldest son of the Chacham Tzvi. Rabbi Yaakov was a tremendous genius in all aspects of the Torah, one of the giants of his generation and is considered one of the greatest of the Achronim. He was renowned for his zealousness and authorship of dozens of essays, most of which were printed in the publishing house he built in his home in Altona.
