Letter from Rabbi Menachem Asch (Eisenstadt) – to Maharam Schick. Ungvar 1864.
Rabbi Menachem Eisenstaedter (1808-1870) – known as the second Mahraam Asch, was born to his father R' Meir Eisenstadter, and succeeded him as Rabbi of Ungvar in 1852.
He was one of the greatest Rabbis and Rosh Yeshivah of his time, in Hungary. Some of his students were famous as well: R' Eliezer Deutch of Bonyhad, and Rabbi Yosef Meir Weiss Admor of Spinka. R' Zvi Hirsch of Liska eulogized him in his sefer Hayashar ve'Hatov, with great respect.
