Letter of Torah Novellae from Rabbi David Schick, AB"D Tokaj, author of Imrei David, to the Mahara”m Schick, 1846
The Gaon Rabbi David Schick (1812-1890) headed the rabbinical court in Tokaj. He was a student of the Chatam Sofer and a cousin of the Mahara”m Schick. He also studied under Rabbi Yaakov Kopel Altenkunshtadt-Charif, the Av Beit Din of Vrbové and Rabbi Yehezkel Bennet of Nitra. Rabbi Schick received his Torah education in his native town of Brezová and became a teacher there. In 1851 he was appointed Av Beit Din of Szecseny, and from 1875 until his death in 1890 served as the Av Beit Din of Tokaj. He wrote Imrei David commentary on the Talmud and Mizmor L’David on the Torah.
This signed letter from 1846 is completely in his handwriting. 22x17 cm.
