Classics. Chidushei Ha’RaShBA. Brochos, Gittin, Chulin. First Editions. Venice 1523. Magnificent Copies!
Novella of the RaShBA on tractates Brochos, Gittin and Chulin. All first editions.
R. Shlomo Ben Aderes (RaShBA) (c.1235-c.1310) of Barcelona, was a disciple of the cousins Rabbeinu Yonah and R. Moshe Ben Nachman (RaMBaN). After the departure of the RaMBaN for Eretz Yisroel in 1267, the RaShBA became the undisputed leader and spokesman of Spanish Jewry. His influence was enormous and he was known as the “El Rab D’España” meaning the “The Rov of Spain”. He was a prolific author writing novella on many facets of the Torah, which remain one of the frequently studied early commentaries. He also received Halachic queries from many communities, and his Halachic responsa had a tremendous influence on the later Halachic commentators.
His novella on these tractates along with the RaMBaN’s novella published the same year by Bomberg, remained the only novella with the approach of the RaMBaN and his disciples to be published for roughly the next two centuries.
