'Adolf Hitler' - The Nazi Propaganda Ministry's Attempt to Show the Führer in Human Light - Photos

86 photographs from the card series 'Adolf Hitler' aimed to present the Führer in human light. Germany, early 1930s.

From the time the Nazi Party came to power in 1933, the German press and public information system controlled the Government Press Bureau under the supervision of the German Propaganda Office and Propaganda Minister Josef Goebbels. In the early years, Nazi propaganda used deliberate and sophisticated visual media to achieve its political goals. Goebbels, who designed and organized the party meetings and the parades, created the "Fairer Myth" that compared Hitler's aura of "Ruler with Supreme Grace". In various series of cards distributed in the packets of cigarettes, which brought to the masses the first photos of the Führer, the party's photographers concentrated mainly on his forceful image, which used Heinrich Hoffman Hitler's personal photographer and the only one allowed to photograph it in private. In the first photographs (for example, in the "'Germany is waking up" series released in 1933), the Führer was portrayed as a forceful, violent, tough and threatening figure in an attempt to equalize security and regain the lost honor to Germany since her defeat in World War I. Following the failure of some powerful propaganda films that caused the German masses to be removed from the cinemas, the Nazi propaganda leaders decided to take a softened approach and chose to present the Führer as a paternal figure full of emotion and warmth. Party photographers were asked to provide as many photos as possible of the Firer in the company of children, boys, and adults, and even there were also several staged scenes to bring the desired image to the crowd. The new photographs were issued by the Nazis in a new card series called "Adolf Hitler" whose purpose was to present to the masses the "real" image of Hitler in human and softened light. The Nazi hater is seen caressing children, hugging widows, and giving a loving look to those around him. An examines eye

Can even notice the Firer over-straining to soften his taut face. Later, Nazi propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels claimed that the softened road had achieved its goal and caused the admiration of Fuerer among the German masses.
