Military encyclopedia. Volume III. The Aral flotilla - the battle of Athos.
Petersburg. T-vo I. D. Sytina. 1911, 318 p., 9. Hard semi-leather binding, 18.5 x 27 cm. Excellent condition, stamp, slight scuffing of the binding.

Sytin's military encyclopedia is a common unofficial name for a multi-volume "Military encyclopedia" published by Ivan Dmitrievich Sytin in 1911-1915 and eventually left unfinished, edited by Colonel of the General staff V. F. Novitsky. Due to the First world war and the subsequent October revolution, the publication was not completed; a total of 18 volumes were published, the last word of the 18th volume-Port Arthur.

On one of the inserts of volume 18, there are several portraits that were intended for volume nineteen, and under the portraits are specified the specific pages on which these articles were to be placed; this indicates that volume 19 was not only written, but already folded.

Each volume was accompanied by a large number of diagrams, geographical and topographical maps, plans, portraits and drawings included both in the main text and located on the inserts. SP
