Siddur “Sha’ar HaShamayim” (Gates of Heaven) from our Rav Yeshaya HaLevi Horwitz—the Holy Shl’a. First edition, Amsterdam 1717—very rare. With old handwritten glosses
Also called the siddur of the Shl’a, prayers for all year, including Psalms, Slichot, ma’amadot, the Pesach Haggadah, with interpretations from ba’al HaShl’a on the ways of Pardes and writings of the Ari z”l, with laws and traditions from his book “The Two Tablets.” This siddur was praised by Sages of many generations, Admorim and Tzaddikim, who guaranteed to the user that his prayers would be received and would not be left empty; so wrote the ba’al “Bayit Hadash” in his approval letter for this siddur—“there is no doubt for us that when it is spread amongst the Jewish people that for all who prayer with it, their prayers will not be left unanswered.” Copy is missing: 2 first title pages and 3 pages at the end (at last counting). Number of pages in original: (5) 4-335, 139, 52 page. (before us are the title pages for the Psalms and Ma’amadot). This siddur is known for its rarity, complete copies are never found. The copy in front of us is almost complete, very rare. The copy in front of us is divided into two volumes, bound in handsome, fancy leather, a number of pages have defects, sometimes with damage to the text, but everything is professionally restored, stains and wear on a number of pages. The volumes are given in a set case. In parts of the siddur there are a number of very old addendums in Ashkenazi handwriting with quotations from the books of the Maharhav. On pg. 22 there is a handwritten remark which says “with this I quit smichut haTorah…” with the signature: “Shlomo…”
