Bright child's silk robe. Primary colors are red, blue and yellow. Damask floral pattern is on the red field. The yellow border is decorated with multicolor embroidery. Light green lining. Provenance: Collection of Edward Hyers Clayton (1886-1946). American writer and missioner. E.H. Clayton and his wife were missionaries of the American Baptist Foreign Mission Society in charge of Wayland Academy, a missionary school in Hangzhou, China from 1912 to 1942. E.H. Clayton wrote a book Heaven Below based on his living experience in China.
