Provenance: Vittorio Bellini (1936-2009) collection.
This mighty sculpture is probably the work of one of the Galoa communities, a population that occupies territories of western Gabon. The harmonious proportions of the body, the use of polychromy in geometric inserts, the halo of feathers that surmounts the head, are elements that convey a feeling of profound awareness.
