The first three manuscripts are copies of books that have been printed in a number of editions. These manuscript copies, however, contain many changes to the printed versions. Also included for the sake of comparison, is a Megillat Eicha, printed at a later date.
The first page includes a handwritten dedication by the author, Rabbi Yehuda Leib Karlburg, attesting to the immense wisdom in the book on Megillat Eicha.
The Tzaddik Yehuda Leib was born in 1765. He was a student of Rabbi Natan Adler zt”l, who was a student of “The Nachal Eshkol” – Rabbi Zvi Auerbah. Rabbi Yehuda Leib was also a close confidante of the Chatam Sofer zt”l.
