carte de visite - an early albumen photo of the Jewish philosopher Moshe Mendelssohn [Moshe Ben Menachem 1729-1786]. According to an engraving by Johann Christoph Frisch from 1832. Mendelssohn, one of the fathers of the Jewish Enlightenment, is the figure that most represents the beginning of the modern era in the history of European Jewry.
