KooKoo is honored to introduce you to the graffiti artist everyone is talking about, get to know Ben Mashiah and his two characters: Noir and Peza

Ben Mashiah (1995) created two alter-ego figures in whose name he seals and in whose image he cuts his hair, dresses and paints: Peza, who represents the European style and allows herself to fill large spaces with color; And Noir, which represents an alternative environment in the graffiti landscape from Brazil.
They are "writers" - graffiti writers - who live in the city of Neo-Apollonia. Peza comes from a European-style street writing background, and has a studio and spray shop. Noir is an immigrant from Brazil, who comes from a background of writing Pixacao (pronounced fisso, the Brazilian equivalent of graffiti), lives in squats (an abandoned house he invaded) and is a fanatic football fan.
Neo Apollonia, the name of the city, is also the name given by Mashiah to his personal creative project, born "out of a desire to take the graffiti scene one step further. I follow the graffiti and street art scene in different places in the world and feel through it I get an idea of the social and political situation that exists in them, even though physically I was not there. I believe she reflects on him. '
The city, he says, is also the one at the center of the project he created, when through the body of work of its residents Peza and Noir, their image and the texts they write, he tries to tell its story.

The choice of New Apollonia as their city of residence, he adds, "gives the project another layer because of the resonance of ancient Apollonia, an originally Phoenician city, which as such embodies ties to ancient Greece as the cradle of theater, arts and music."
