COLLISHAW RAYMOND: (1893-1976) Canadian Fighter Pilot. Commander of the Royal Air Force. Collishaw was the highest scoring RNAS flying ace and the second highest scoring Canadian pilot of the First World War. He was noted as a great leader in the air, leading many of his own formations into battle. As a member of the RAF during WWII, he commanded the 204 Group, which later became the Desert Air Force in Northe Africa. D.S., `R. Collishaw´, one page, 4to, brown paper, Dorignies, France, 22nd July 1918. The partially printed document, completed in typescript, is a Combat Report (headed Combats in the Air), corresponding to the 203 Squadron, aeroplane Sopwith Camels D.3417 & D.9618, at 3-40a.m., the Remarks being `Special Mission bombing and shooting up Dorignies Aerodrome.´, and the narrative stating, in part, '…Captain Rochford attacked first from about 200 feet and I observed one of his bombs set a hangar on fire. His other three bombs burst among the aerodrome living quarters. He then attacked with his machine guns all the buildings and hangars…´, further saying `..I then dropped my four bombs on the living quarters at the northern end of the aerodrome from about 150 feet…´ Upper right corner clipped and a binder hole to the upper left, not affecting the text or signature.
