Sorokin Ivan Vasilyevich (1922, Ryazan Region - 2004, Moscow).
Corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Arts. Honoured artist of the RSFSR. Laureate of the RSFSR I.E. Repin State Prize (in 1980, for the series of landscapes “My Love is Russia”). As a military artist of the Studio named after M.B. Grekov he was present at many fronts of the Great Patriotic War. Since 1944 he became a participant of exhibitions. He graduated the Moscow State Institute of Arts named after V.I. Surikov, the workshop of S.V. Gerasimov (1945-1951). He specialized in landscapes and still life pictures. Personal exhibition of I.V. Sorokin was held in 1980 in Moscow. Considerable part of the artist’s works was acquired by the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum and other large museums of the country.
