Fedorovsky Fedor Fedorovich (1883, Chernigov – 1955, Moscow).

People’s artist of the USSR. A full member of the Academy of Arts of the USSR. Since 1947 became a vice-president of the Academy of Arts. Five-time laureate of the Stalin Prize. The principal artist of the State Academic Bolshoy Theatre (1921-1953).

In 1907 he graduated from Stroganovskoe College of Arts, department of decoration design, as a gold medallist. Studied under K.A. Korovin, M.A. Vrubel. Worked for Zimin`s Private Opera Theatre, became a bid winner for scenery decorating to Bize's opera "Carmen" staged at this theatre. Was awarded the first prize for the sketches to "Sadko" opera. Created the scenery for M. Musorgsky’s "Hovanshchina", performance of which took place in Paris at the stage of Grand Opera. Made sceneries for "Boris Godunov" and "Emelyan Pugachev", "Prince Igor", “Tihiy Don”. Received the highest awards at international exhibitions of decorative art in Paris (1927), Milan (1937), Brussels (1958).
Professor of studio at theatre and decorative department of VKhUTEIN. The author of sketch design for the stars of Moscow Kremlin Towers and the drop-curtain in Bolshoy theatre.
The artist’s works are kept in the State Tretyakov Gallery, Museum of GABT, Glinka’s State Central Museum of Musical Culture in Moscow.
