Gorelov Gavriil Nikitich (1880, Pokrovskoye - 1966, Moscow).
The Laureate of the Stalin prize. The full member of the Academy of Arts of USSR, the honored worker of arts of RSFSR. He attended the classes by K.A. Savitsky at the Penza artistic college (1898-1903) and the classes by I.E. Repin in the Academy of Arts. As he graduated from the Academy, Gorelov was awarded a premium of traveling to Germany, France and Italy (1911-1914). Since 1904, the member, participant and exhibitor of the Partnership of Traveling Artistic Exhibitions (1912-1916), the Partnership of South-Russian artists (1906-1909), AHRR (1925-1926). For his canvas "The mockery of heretics", he was awarded the golden medal of the International artistic exhibition in Munich in 1909. In 1937, he won the silver medal at the International exhibition in Paris (1950). G.N. Gorelov’s works are kept in the Tretyakov State Gallery, the State Russian Museum and in other museums
