* Foundry Vagranka, Klodt P.K. Pyotr Karlovich (1805 - 1867)
Russian sculptor of German origin from a noble family, Klodt von Jürgensburg, the largest master of monumental and animalistic sculpture during the reign of Nicholas I. Academician (since 1838) and emeritus professor (since 1858) of the Imperial Academy of Arts, actual state councilor (1859). Since 1830, he has been a volunteer student of the Imperial Academy of Arts, his teachers were the rector of the Academy I. P. Martos, as well as the masters of sculpture S. I. Galberg and B. I. Orlovsky. From the beginning of the 1830s, his figurines depicting horses began to enjoy great success. The ensemble “Horse Tamers” of 4 groups for the Anichkov Bridge brought European fame to the sculptor (two were installed in 1841, the other two in 1850; repetitions in bronze were also installed at the royal palaces in Berlin in 1842 and Naples in 1846).
