Yakovlev Vasiliy Nikolayevich - Old-timer.. Year: 1920s. Technique: Pencil on paper. Size: 53х35. Yakovlev Vasiliy Nikolayevich (1893, Moscow – 1953, Moscow). Yakovlev V.N. is a Soviet artist. People’s Artist of the RSFSR (1943), Member of the USSR Union of Artists (1947). Laureate of the USSR State Prize. Laureate of the Stalin Prize. During 1914-1917 studied at Moscow College of Arts, Sculpture and Architecture under K.A. Korovin, S.V. Malutin. Gave lessons at VKHUTEMAS (Higher Art and Technical Studios) (1918-1922) and Moscow Art Institute named after V.I. Surickov (1948-50). Member of the Association of Revolutionary Russian Artists (since 1922). In 1938-1939 and 1949-1950 hold a post of the chief artist of the all-Soviet Agricultural Exhibition. During the World War II created a series of heroic portraits of depicting combat leaders, including the marshal G.K. Zhukov. Together with Sokolov-Skalia supervised works for restoration of Sevastopol Panorama by F.A. Rubo.
