Galba (present Halberstadt) Vladimir Aleksandrovich Graph. Member of the Union of Artists of the USSR and the Union of Journalists of the USSR, Honored Artist of the RSFSR. He studied in Leningrad with N. I. Kravchenko and A. A. Radakov (1924–1928). He did not receive a systematic art education. Since 1926, he collaborated as a cartoonist in the newspapers “Leningradskaya Pravda”, “Evening Leningrad”, magazines “Neva”, “Ogonyok”, “Veselye Kartinki” and others. Since 1939 - artist of the ”Combat Pencil” association. In 1945–1946, he was present at the Nuremberg trials as a correspondent artist. Was on creative business trips in France, England, Holland. Author of easel cartoons: “The Fuhrer in 1939” (1939), “Into the Abyss” (1941), “In the Office of the Chief Accountant” (1932), “Nazi Fruit (Still Faces)” (1944), “Help Get Back on Your Feet” (1947), “Wolf Street” (1949), “Truman Calls the Angel of Peace” (1950), ”B.B. Gray Gelding” (1953), ”Wall Street Poultry Farm” (1958); series “Sport in bourgeois countries” (1953–1958). The cartoons were published in the albums: “Blitz-cry and Fritzvoy” (M.-L., 1944), “One Hundred Smiles” (L., 1964), “Satirical Service Atelier” (L., 1968). He made friendly cartoons, worked on posters and bookplates. Worked in the field of book illustration; collaborated with publishing houses: Goslitizdat, Detgiz, “Soviet Writer”, “Pravda” and others. Designed the books: “What our name means. Dictionary of Names” (1940), ”The Miracle Tree” by K. I. Chukovsky (1944), ”Protest of Animals” by G. Romm (1945), ”The Knight of the Flaming Pestle” by F. Beaumont (1956), ”Fables and Literary Parodies” by A. M. Fleet (1958; together with B. F. Semyonov), ”Family Chronicle” (1960), “On Taste” (1966) S. V. Mikhalkova and others. Since 1926 he has been a participant in exhibitions (1st art exhibition of paintings by the Academy of Artists of Russia, Kostroma branch). Exhibited at exhibitions: caricatures of Moscow and Leningrad artists in Perm (1940), sketches of Leningrad artists (1945), works of Leningrad artists (1948, 1952, 1953, 1961, 1964), “Soviet book sign” (1962) in Leningrad, All-Union art exhibitions (1951, 1960), Soviet satire (1952), “Soviet political poster for 50 years” (1967) in Moscow and others. Held a personal exhibition in Leningrad (1959). His work is represented in many museum collections, including the State Russian Museum.
