Participated in the liberation of Sevastopol, the assault on Novorossiysk, Kerch, the liberation of Romania, Bulgaria, Yugoslavia, Austria, and Hungary. During the fight against cosmopolitanism in the USSR, he was fired from TASS Photo Chronicle, and after Stalin’s death he again gained access to the newspaper pages. After the war, he created a unique gallery of images of front-line soldiers in peaceful labor.
