Tarkhov Nikolai Alexandrovich - Motherhood.. Technique:  Oil on paper on canvas. Size:  75х59. Signed lower right. Tarkhov Nikolai Alexandrovich (1871, Moscow - 1930, Orsay near Paris). He visited the workshop of K. A. Korovin together with P. Kuznetsov and N. Milioti. In 1899 he went to Paris, where he attended classes of J. P. Laurents at the Académie Julien, and L. O. Merson at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts. Experienced the influence of impressionism. Tarkhov's works were regularly exhibited at the Salon of Independents and participated in exhibitions of the National Society of Fine Arts. In 1903 he became a member of the Union of Russian Artists and exhibited at all exhibitions of the association. In 1906, Ambroise Vollard organized a personal exhibition of Tarkhov in his gallery on Lafayette Street. In 1908, the Tretyakov Gallery acquired the artist’s painting “Goats under the Sun.” In 1909, Tarkhov’s personal exhibition was held by the Druot Gallery in Paris. In St. Petersburg, Tarkhov's paintings were exhibited at the Makovsky Salon, in exhibitions at the Izdebsky Salon, and participated in the Amory Show of 1913 in New York. N.A. Tarkhov was one of the founding members of the second “World of Art”; his paintings were acquired by the Tretyakov Gallery and the Russian Museum, collectors I.A. Morozov, I.I. Troyanovsky. Personal exhibitions of N.A. Tarkhov's exhibitions were regularly held in museums and galleries in Paris, London, New York, and Geneva. In 1983, retrospective exhibitions of the artist were held at the Pushkin Museum. A.S. Pushkin in Moscow and the State Russian Museum in Leningrad, and in 2003 - in the State Tretyakov Gallery
