Sokolov (Kukryniksy) worked in the field of satire, on works on historical and revolutionary themes and the theme of the Great Patriotic War. He worked independently as a landscape painter, famous for his full-scale landscapes of Western European cities: Paris, Rome, Venice, Naples.
